Panic Attack Medication

Medicines

Medications, even though might seem helpful in case of panic attacks and panic disorders, are actually just numbing your brain.  Medication can never cure your anxiety disorder.

If you are prescribed on medication, then it is not entirely a bad thing. Medication can help in the initial stages to ease off the anxiety a little bit. But the sad truth is, some of the medication that doctors prescribe is addictive and has withdrawal symptoms.

Benzodiazepines for example, have been known to have some very serious withdrawal symptoms. And there is an entire subject for research, websites and literatures. There are many websites on the internet that are dedicated to helping people withdraw from Benzodiazepines. If the medication did not have any side effects or wasn’t addictive, then these websites and literature wouldn’t exist, would it?

Medication such as Xanax can be useful for the sufferer to help in the starting. But when the sufferer starts depending on the medication, it becomes a problem. Drugs give them a feeling of safety and make them feel safe. It happens to a point when they feel that they have to have the drugs to be safe. But in reality, there is no danger. It’s just a bluff that anxiety is playing on you.

Once you start a panic attack treatment program, you should start looking into withdrawing your medication if you were prescribed on them before. It is best to talk to your doctor about the withdrawal program. Your doctor will probably give you a good idea on how to withdraw completely from the medication you are on.
