The cause of panic attacks can be directly related to the fight/flight response that has been present in human beings since the primitive times. When faced with the danger, the body needs to be prepared to either fight or flee.
It is a very important part of the human body even today. For example, if you are crossing the road and you see a car speeding towards you, this flight/fight response will be triggered and you will run out of the danger zone. If there was no flight/fight response, you wouldn’t have panicked and would have just stayed there and would have probably been run over by the car.
However, there are times when panic attacks occur out of the blue with no apparent reason. The actual cause of such a panic attack is still unclear and it is believed that such panic attacks can be because of genetics that are passed through families. Most experts believe that the real reason for these “out of the blue” panic attacks is because of severe anxiety, severe stress, or some major life transitions in some one’s life.
The symptoms of panic attacks such as the beating heart, pain in the chest, sweating, shaking, chills, muscle pains etc. are all because of the response of the body to the threat and danger that your body perceives is around you. Even though there is no danger around you, your body triggered this response in the nerve endings because it thinks that you are in danger. And the reason why it thinks you are in danger is because of the constant state of anxiety that you are in.
The heart beating very fast always worries the panic attack sufferer and they feel that their heart is going to fail. However, the heart is a muscle and it is beating fast just because it thinks you need all the energy to face the dangerous situation that it thinks you are in. The heart beating fast can never cause you any harm. Athletes train very hard to make their heart beating faster and it only makes them stronger. It is like an exercise for the heart muscle which just makes it stronger. It will never cause you any harm. Neither will any other symptoms of the Panic Attack.
How you respond to a panic attack differs from person to person as everyone is a little different biologically. But no matter how weird the symptoms are, you should understand that the reason behind it is the fight/flight response and there is nothing wrong with you physically or mentally. There are nerves endings everywhere in our body and you can start feeling some strange sensations during or after a panic attack. Some people feel numbness in their chest while others feel numbness throughout their faces and neck.
Panic attacks that appear out of the blue without any apparent reason are one of the worst things that can happen to a person. This is because human beings always look for a reason for this fight/flight response and they start thinking about “What was it that triggered the panic attack”. And after analyzing their surrounding and seeing nothing wrong with it, they turn to themselves as the reason.
Reasons like “I am going crazy” and “There is something seriously wrong with me” start to develop in their minds.
If this is you, then I want you to know that nothing can be further from the truth. It is imperative that you should understand that you are not ill and are not suffering from a disease. Panic attacks occurring out of the blue are completely normal and there are hundreds of thousands of people who have had panic attacks just like that.
And these panic attacks are treatable. There are countless testimonials to sufferers just like you who have completely cured their panic attacks and are now living a life with more confidence than ever before.
